The workshop Formative Assessment Practices in the Primary Grades will give educators an overview on how formative assessment practices can enhance the classroom learning experience. In this workshop you will see examples of how you can use formative assessment to inform your instruction and foster student agency through self-assessment, reflection, and feedback. Participants will grow their personal toolbox in the areas of observation, discussion, conferencing and questioning practices. Participants will gain an understanding of clear learning goals and success criteria at the primary level and guide educators new to the process of formative assessment. Formative assessment informs your instruction and can be easily embedded into the classroom. Formative assessment enhances teaching, learning and assessment. In this workshop we will explore observation, discussion, and questioning practices. Participants will grow their personal toolbox in these areas. Clear learning goals and success criteria can be useful at the primary level leading to meaningful discussions for learning.  Self-assessment, reflection and teacher and peer authentic feedback practices

This workshop will guide educators new to this process of formative assessment.

Participants will understand that formative assessment practices enhance learning and can be authentically embedded into the classroom; Participants will grow their formative assessment personal toolbox to include observation, discussion, conferencing, and questioning examples; Participants will gain an understanding of clear learning goals and success criteria at the primary level; Participants will explore authentic feedback practices.
