 Blue Student-Centered and Personalized Learning Green Special Education Red Competency-Based Learning

Tired of doing the “word waddle” all the time?  Do you ever look at a standard and not know what exact skill or concept it is asking of the student?  Stop always moving big words and jargon around on the page and come find out how to deconstruct that standard! We will take a closer look at what skills and concepts are needed - and in what order to instruct them - by developing learning targets and success criteria.  Let’s put the L back in earn and stop waddling around!

Participants will gain an understanding of how competency-based IEPs require manageable learning targets based on standards that are rigorous; Participants will learn and practice the useful tool of deconstructing standards using a graphic organizer; Participants will identify and create success criteria in sequential order for instruction, moving beyond progression tools to deeper learning in individualized grain sizes; Participants will Leave with next steps action plan resources to transform learning goals on IEP’s.
