Collaboration is the key to sustaining and deepening professional learning and student growth in schools. Why, then, is it so difficult to do this effectively? In this session, Jon and Paul will provide an overview and concrete examples of two distinct collaborative practices in schools, Communities of Practice and Professional Learning Communities. Lee and Ryan will share their experiences with PLCs and CoPs in their schools and through PACE. Participants will leave with a better understanding of how both can work in tandem to provide teachers with a network within their school and outside of their school that allows them to tap into the strength of others with a common vision for learning and growth.
Participants will gain knowledge of different types of learning networks operating in schools, districts, and across the nation; Participants will learn skills and practices in operating professional learning communities and communities of practice in remote environments; Participants will learn about the similarities and differences between Communities of Practice and Professional Learning Communities; Participants will identify opportunities within their schools to engage more deeply through learning communities given real-world examples.; Participants will reflect on their current reality and determine next steps in their own journey.
